George Anchabadze graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Oriental Studies in 1971. In 1975, he graduated in Post Graduate studies from the Ivane Javakhishvili Academy of Sciences Institute of History, Archeology Ethnography. In 1975, defended his thesis on the topic of “Evliya Çelebi’s “Seyahatnamesi” – as a source for the history for the Caucasus mountain peoples”, in 1990 defended doctoral thesis on the topic of “Problems of Georgian military source studies (Study of Georgian historical literary works).” He has published more than hundred scientific papers, including more than twenty books (monographs, articles, books, course manuals, etc.). At different times, worked at the Ivane Javakhishvili Academy of Sciences Institute of History, Archeology Ethnography (thereafter renamed Ivane Javakhishvili History and Ethnology) Institute (1975-2010), the Abkhaz State University (1984-1992), the United Military Academy (1994-1999), Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (2006-2007) and others. Has been professor at Ilia State University since 2007
