The first part analyzes the causes of the catastrophic changing of the ecological state, function area, and usage sphere of the Abkhazian language in the context of the language policy of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union; It shows what ecological transformations have taken place in the phonological and grammatical structure of the language, especially in the vocabulary.

The second part presents the decoded texts of the audio and video materials obtained by the project participants, reflecting the attitude of the representatives of the Abkhazian and Georgian communities towards the state of the Abkhazian language and its fate. Based on the documents and arguments the book refutes the accusations made in the Abkhazian separatist literature about the “persecution” of the Abkhazian language by Georgians.
